The Oke Umurhohwo Foundation, on Saturday, concluded its free fuel initiative in Ekuigbo, Ughelli, Delta State, providing much-needed premium motor spirit (PMS) to nearly 200 commercial drivers in the community.
The initiative, organised in commemoration of the founder, Hon Oke Umurhohwo’s birthday on May 5th, was aimed at easing the financial strain on commercial drivers in Ughelli.
Umurhohwo’s participation in the petrol donation drive added to the excitement of participating drivers, as they expressed immense gratitude for the support.
Project lead, Miss Deborah Emekpe, said: “Today’s successful and organised event showcased the incredible community spirit of Ekuigbo. Our goal was to reduce the financial burden on commercial drivers, and seeing them express gratitude was deeply rewarding. The dedication of our team made this possible, and I am extremely proud of what we accomplished.”
Foundation director, Miss Edima Bassey, highlighted the broader impact of the driver, stating that, “Our foundation is committed to making tangible differences in people’s lives. By providing free fuel to commercial drivers, we not only support their livelihood but also boost the local economy. Initiatives like this are essential for community development and resilience, and we are thankful for everyone’s support.”
Hon Umurhohwo expressed heartfelt appreciation for the strong turnout, emphasising that this initiative is just one way the foundation aims to give back to the society.
He praised the foundation’s team for its outstanding efforts and looked forward to future initiatives to uplift and support the people.
The foundation further disclosed that the initiative highlights its dedication to social responsibility and community support, adding that moving forward, it remains committed to implementing programmes that address important needs and foster solidarity and mutual aid.
