The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has released its timetable for the local government election scheduled for next month.
This comes 24 hours after the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, ADSIEC, released the general timetable affirming July 13 as the council election D-Day.
The PDP, at a press briefing in Yola on Wednesday, announced that nomination and expression of interest forms for party members wishing to contest as chairman will go for a total of N10 million, which breaks down to N9 million for nomination form and N1 million for expression of interest form.
The PDP state chairman, Ahmed Shehu, who addressed the media at the state PDP Secretariat in Yola after a meeting of the party executives, said councillorship aspirants would buy their own forms at a total of N120,000; that is N100,000 nomination form and N20,000 expression of interest form.
He, however, announced a 50 percent reduction in the costs of the forms for women and physically challenged members of the party.
The PDP timetable for the council election, drawn up with regard to the timeliness of ADSIEC’s general timetable, shows that sales of the party’s nomination forms are scheduled for June 7-12, 2024; submission of completed forms is fixed for June 13-14, while screening of aspirants is for June 15-16.
The party’s councillorship primaries are scheduled for June 21, and chairmanship primaries for June 22.
