Organized Labour in Kogi State has directed all unions and affiliates under it to immediately comply with the nationwide strike ordered to press home the demand for a new minimum wage.
The Kogi State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Amari Gabriel disclosed this at a meeting with State Executive Council (SEC) members in Lokoja on Sunday.
He called on all union leaders to ensure total compliance in the state.
Amari described the nationwide strike as a struggle for the liberation of Nigeria workers from hunger, pain and poverty.
Also speaking, the Kogi State Chairman, Trade Union Congress, (TUC) Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani called for total cooperation of workers to achieve the set goals.
He appealed that all union leaders should endeavor to enforce the strike for a total shutdown in the state.
On his part, the Vice Chairman of NLC in Kogi State who doubles as the enforcement chairman for the strike, Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo, called on all chapter chairmen to be in their duty posts for enforcement as the monitoring committee will go round to ensure total compliance in Kogi State.
All union leaders present at the meeting promised to comply with the directive by making the strike effective.
Arogidigba Global Journal gathered that the nationwide strike is expected to commence 12 midnight Sunday.
It would be recalled that the National body of the Organized Labour after the expiry of the May 31 deadline given to the Federal Government, declared a nationwide strike to press home the demand for a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
