The National Youth Wing of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to empower over 5000 young individuals with essential workplace readiness and employability skills through its highly anticipated “Workplace Readiness and Employability Skills Training Program.”
The initiative is part of the group within the ruling party’s Strategic Plan 2024-2027, reflecting the body’s commitment to fostering youth empowerment and development through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
APC National Youth Leader and Training Convener, Dr. Dayo Israel, made this known on Saturday in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos, saying that the programme Themed: “I AM EMPLOYABLE,” which he described as “transformative event” would be holding from June 4th to June 7th, 2024, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to him, speakers for the event include former CIPM CEO and immediate past Lagos State Commissioner for Training, E.G Jibola Ponnle; CEO of FifthGear Plus and Management Consultant, Niyi Adesanya and a respected media personality, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, saying that they would be joined by an impressive lineup of trainers and facilitators.
He said that the trainers include Tosin Adesina, Yeye-Mides Fabanwo, Njuara Njama, Dare Akinlaja, Jide Jinadu, Funke Oluwatimilehin, Elizabeth Ajala, Akin Akinpelu, Soji Adeniyi, Sam Obafemi, Oluseye Taiwo Adepoju, Lesley George, Abiola Champ, Jeph Oluwagbemiga, Stephen Akintayo and Bode Shogo.

Israel stated that the APC National Youth Wing “Workplace Readiness and Employability Skills Training Program (WREST)” is an employment skills enhancement and office management skills training program that was designed to help young Nigerians aged 16 and above develop the core skills that employers desire, improving their ability to secure a job, retain employment, and move flexibly in the labor market.
He pointed out that this program would equip participants with better personal-branding skills for effective CV and Resume presentation, core workplace skills, new ways of thinking and accomplishing tasks, as well as competitive ways of living in a global society.
“With the theme ‘I Am Employable,’ this initiative forms one of our major efforts to build the economic capacity of young Nigerians and equip them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to their communities, with the underlying objective of contributing to our nation’s structural transformation and economic growth by enhancing employability and labour productivity and reducing unemployment.
“This initiative is part of the APC National Youth Strategic Plan 2024-2027, reflecting Dr. Dayo Israel’s commitment to fostering youth empowerment and development through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
“It underscores a strong dedication to youth capacity development, targeting youths, graduates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, and individuals transitioning careers, aiming to enhance their employability in today’s competitive job market,” he stated.
According to the APC National Youth Leader, Dr. Israel, the body’s primary goal with this program was to improve the economic capacity of young Nigerians, especially young progressives, by empowering them with the necessary core skills that will enhance their ability to secure a job, retain employment, and move flexibly in the labour market as well as prepare young people for the workplace.
