The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA in Lagos state, Hon. (Dr) Ahmed Apatira, has said the daily school feeding Initiative aims to increase enrolment in public primary schools within the district.
The council boss also stated that it serves as motivation and encouragement for the pupils to prioritise learning over loitering around during school hours.
Apatira stated this during the team’s visit to one of the beneficiaries’ schools on Thursday.

He said, “We are proud to continue our daily school feeding program for public primary schools in the area. Under this program, we provide nutritious meals to pupils in public schools. This is intended to fuel their passion for learning and also to boost their mental and physical health.
We have seen instances of pupils absenting themselves from school for lack of what to eat. We felt this was not good enough hence the introduction of the school feeding Initiative.
With the program, our aim is to support vulnerable children and reduce hunger. It is also to encourage enrolment and make learning conducive for the pupils for them to attain their full potential.”
