Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has assured that his administration will give priority attention to water drainage channels in a bid to find a permanent solution to the consistent flooding that have been plaguing the state, especially makurdi, the capital city.
Alia gave this assurance on Sunday when he inspected some areas within the Makurdi metropolis that are prone to flooding.
He said that he was out to note and identify areas that must be urgently fixed before the full arrival of the rains.
The governor added that efforts will be made to further ensure that the township would not experience much flooding during the rainy season.
He expressed his administration’s readiness to address the perennial flooding in the Makurdi metropolis especially around Wurukum Market and its environs.
He said: “Very soon we will also commence our efforts in ridding Makurdi of flooding, particularly Wurukum Market and the corridors around there.”
