MainOne, a prominent provider of undersea fibre optic internet connectivity in West Africa, has announced the successful repair of its submarine cable system.
The cable fault, which occurred on March 14, 2024, led to significant disruptions in internet services across the region.
However, through collaborative efforts with regional partners, maintenance providers, vessel owners, and permitting authorities, MainOne has completed the necessary repairs to its submarine cable system.
The diligent efforts of all stakeholders have enabled MainOne to resume regular operations, ensuring the integrity and reliability of its submarine cable network.
Throughout the repair process, MainOne provided restoration capacity and rerouted traffic on its network to mitigate the impact on its customers.
Funke Opeke, the Managing Director of MainOne, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support and collaboration during the outage.
She stated, “We are immensely grateful for the support and collaboration of our partners, the patience of our valued customers, and the unwavering commitment of our team during this outage.”
