Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the recovery of government property and funds, has alleged that two sound-proof power generators and two heavy-duty lister generators belonging to Bende LGA were removed and sold by a traditional ruler from the local government.
The Panel, which has Justice Florence Duruoha-Igwe, rtd, as Chairman, disclosed this after a visit to Bende LGA on a fact-finding mission.
The judicial panel also said an overhead tank that supplies water to the council and a solar power set, donated to the council by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, were also vandalised during the fact-finding visit.
Apart from this, the panel also said it observed that the lands housing ten-room office blocks, staff quarters, forest department and Chief Magistrate court in the council allegedly suffered encroachment as they were demarcated and sold to individuals for private business.
During the fact-finding visit, members of the Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the recovery of government properties and funds were conducted around the council premises by Mr Chijioke Nwankwo, the Chairman of Bende LGA.
