Former Chelsea striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has recounted what went down during his season-long ordeal at the club.
Aubameyang joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2022 and endured a tumultuous season at Stamford Bridge.
The Gabonese, who left Arsenal for Barcelona just 6 months earlier, left Stamford Bridge for Olympique Marseille last summer.
He joined the Blues on the recommendation of then-manager Thomas Tuchel, who parted ways with the German manager.
He struggled to make an impact for the rest of the campaign as he was delisted from their UEFA Champions League squad.
Aubameyang opened up to L’Equipe regarding how his spell at Stamford Bridge played out.
“I understood from December, that the season was over, I already wanted to leave, but you can’t play for more than three clubs,” he said.
“I asked myself: is this what it means to be old? And I answered: It’s you who decides. Either you decide to follow this path and say to yourself maybe it’s old age. Or you say, no, that’s bullsh*t, I still have things to do.
“I was disappointed and jaded, I got a little… ‘lost,’ that’s a big word, but I let myself go.”
