The Adamawa State Government has approved a total of N55,256,595,280 as supplementary budget for the 2024 fiscal year.
The State Executive Council, SEC, made the approval during an emergency meeting in Government House, Yola, on Tuesday.
The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kufalto, announced the approval shortly after the SEC meeting presided over by Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta.
Kufalto said the approval of the supplementary budget is part of commitment of the government towards ensuring that no ongoing project stops halfway.
“We have a governor who does not want to start work and stop before it is completed. That is why SEC called for emergency meeting to approve the supplementary budget,” the commissioner explained.
Throwung further light on the supplementary budget, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Emmanuel Piridimso, said the approval was sequel to inflow of funds to the state.
“The state had another inflow of funds, hence approval of the supplementary budget. There are projects that were hitherto not included in the 2024 budget, but with the inflow, they are now added to the budget,” he explained.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had earlier, in December last year, signed a N225.8 billion budget for the year 2024.
