Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), in charge of security in Plateau State and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States, has recovered the weapons of three of its men killed in Plateau State and arrested some people in connection with the dastardly act.
Recall that three of the men of the OPSH were gruesomely murdered and their weapons carted away by their assailants last month in the Mangu local government area of Plateau while discharging their constitutional mandate.
The General Officer Commanding the 3rd Armoured Division and Commander OPSH, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, disclosed this during the Sallah luncheon organized for men and officers of the Command at the OPSH headquarters in Jos Plateau State.
Abubakar, who had earlier sworn
not to rest until all those responsible are brought to justice. It was disclosed that the command had recovered their weapons and already arrested most of the perpetrators that are responsible, some as far away as Bauchi State.
“Like I always say, you can only run; you cannot hide, and we will get you. We remember them and their sacrifices with special reverence, and our hearts will always be with their families, and we pray that the Almighty grant them eternal rest.
“We must all collectively ensure that the sacrifices of our departed colleagues will never be in vain. I charge you all to remain disciplined, loyal, vigilant, and professional in the conduct of our operations going forward.”
He added that the Sallah celebration reminded the Command of the unwavering sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Nigerian Correctional Service, as well as the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps and the Defense Intelligence Agency personnel under command in the maintenance of peace and security of lives and property within the Operation Safe Haven joint operations area.
Abubakar added that their professionalism, courage, and determination to achieve the mandates of the command, especially on the Plateau, were worthy of note and highly appreciated.
“To consolidate the gains of all our recent achievements, we must intensify our efforts to completely eradicate all acts of isolated killings, kidnapping, farmer hurdles, clashes, cattle rustling, as well as cattle poisoning, farm destruction, and ethno-religious crises, among all other forms of security threats within our joint operations area.”
He, therefore, reassured men of the command that the headquarters, operations, and safe haven, as well as both the army headquarters and the defense headquarters, will do all that is necessary to provide them with the requisite leadership, welfare, and logistics to motivate them for effective and successful conduct of our operations.
