Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, has disclosed that the Nasir Idris-led administration has expended N12 billion on palliatives distributed across communities in a bid to cushion the current hardship in the state.
The commissioner stated that the governor, in his nine months in office, has also expended a huge sum of money in transforming Birnin-Kebbi into a befitting state capital through modernisation in the area of infrastructure available in other state capitals in Nigeria.
Yakubu Ahmed, who stated this at a press briefing in his country home of Birnin Kebbi last weekend, averred that glaring facts revealed that Governor Idris has succeeded in setting an agenda for transforming the state in various sectors.
He noted that contrary to insinuations by the opposition, the administration of Governor Idris has lived above board in its desire to take the state to greater heights.
“For instance, to mitigate the suffering of the people of the state due to the present economic situation has bought assorted grains of more than N12 billion and distributed free to all communities.”
The gesture, according to him, would be a routine one aimed at improving the livelihood of all residents in the state.

He said that the Kebbi State Government should be commended for distributing palliatives to all the categories of beneficiaries, irrespective of political or religious affiliations.
On food security, Yakubu explained that tangible efforts and measures have been implemented by the administration to bolster food security and ensure that the people of the state do not go hungry.
In the same vein, he explained that the administration has spent a huge amount of money on the purchase of assorted farm inputs and implements and distributed the same free to farmers across the state.
Kebbi State, according to him, was among the few states that are not owing its workers salaries or other emoluments, including the payment of the 2024 leave grant to workers.
On security, the commissioner added that the government has been doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the people of the state sleep with their two eyes closed.
The governor has, among other efforts, donated several logistics including vehicles and funds to the various security agencies and vigilantes to facilitate their efforts to safeguard the lives and property of the people.
He called on the opposition and other mischief makers to stop the campaign of calumny against the administration to allow the governor to concentrate on the people-oriented projects he has already started.
“The ongoing futile campaigns of calumny against the Nasiru Idris-led administration will continue to hit the rock and amount to no effect because his doggedness, piety, patriotism, transparency and accountability have remained unparalleled in the history of Kebbi State.”
“Such unending ferocious campaigns by some unrepentant cynics and diabolical critics attempting to link the state government to the recent looting of Dangote palliatives will also be futile as it is not complicit in any way possible,” he said.
