A group, the Ondo State Organisation for Due Diligence, has raised an alarm over the fraudulent use of President Bola Tinubu’s name by cabals within the All Progressives Congress, APC, to sway support for one of the aspirants ahead of the primaries of the party.
The group, which condemned the purported move, accused the cabals of deceiving both the aspirants and the people of the state by falsely claiming to have garnered Tinubu’s endorsement for a particular aspirant.
According to the group, in a statement signed and issued by its chairman, Samuel Aderinola, and secretary, Adefemi Babatunde, the political opportunists were attempting to gain an unfair advantage by invoking the name of the president ahead of the primaries on April 20.
The group stated: “As political merchants continue to selfishly dangle the personality of the President as the determining factor in the forthcoming primary of the APC in Ondo State, they have similarly been trying hard to attain the complementarity of their vicious agenda.
“We are under obligation to blow the lid off their poisonous cooking pot, as it is annihilating to the APC, democratic ideals and rights of the good people of Ondo State to freely choose their leader.
“The democratic credentials of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu were, once again, demonstrated in the conduct of the primary that produced the candidate that will fly the flag of the APC in the impending gubernatorial election in Edo State.”
