The Nigerian Army, deployed for Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency operations in Katsina and Zamfara States, raided terrorist kingpin’s enclaves in North West, neutralised several terrorists, intercepted illicit drugs in Ogun, and captured armed fighters in Ebonyi.

In Zamfara, on 29th March 2024, troops launched a successful operation targeting the den of notorious terrorists’ kingpin, Hassan Yantagwaye, in Tsafe Local Government Area. Yantagwaye and his group had terrorized the region with kidnappings and acts of terrorism.
During the operation, troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing three of them and confiscating a large cache of arms and ammunition. Furthermore, the troops dismantled the terrorists’ camps, dealing a severe blow to their operations.
On the same day, vigilant troops intercepted 441 wraps of suspected Cannabis Sativa at Molegede village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun state.
The illicit substances were discovered in a Mazda Saloon car abandoned by smugglers upon sighting the troops. The vehicle and contraband will be handed over to the appropriate agency following preliminary investigations.
In Katsina State, on 30th March 2024, gallant troops engaged terrorists in a fierce gun battle across Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi in Kabai I and Kabai II within Faskari Local Government Area.

The troops successfully neutralized eight terrorists and recovered three locally fabricated guns, military uniforms, and a large quantity of stolen grains, disrupting the insurgents’ activities in the region.
Meanwhile, in Ebonyi State, troops conducting night patrols on 31st April 2024, encountered armed Effium militias along Urban Effium in Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
In a swift combat engagement, the troops overpowered the militias, capturing one of them. Additionally, they seized an AK-47 Rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition. The captured suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation.
