The crisis of confidence that rocked the Edo State governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), might have been resolved after all as the party on Sunday held a stakeholders meeting, which would be proceeded by a thank-you/unity tour beginning from Monday, April 1, 2024 through April 5 across the 18 local government areas.
The meeting, conveyed by the immediate past governor of the state and current senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was held at the Benin residence of the former Labour leader.
A top member of the party in the state said that the meeting “is an in-house meeting, we are going to discuss the post primary and the way to go about the incoming campaigns. Generally we are going to take a look at the way forward after the primary”
Prior to the Sunday stakeholders meeting, the Secretary of the party, Mr. Lawrence Okah, had held a meeting to mark the Easter celebration, where he preached unity among all members.
“The primary election is gone, we remain one party and the APC must work together to win the election”, Okah pleaded at the meeting.
Among those that attended the meeting were all the wards and unit leaders of the party and some some chieftains of the party including the immediate past Senator for Edo South on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Matthew Uroghide, who is now a member of the APC, former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Patrick Obahiagbon; former members of the House of Assembly, Chris Okaegben and several others.
