Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged Nigerians to exude a positive attitude in the face of the current economic hardship in the country.
Eno, who made the call in his Easter message to the Akwa Ibom people on Sunday, urged Nigerians to pray for all tiers of government to succeed.
The governor stated that the resurrection of Christ should reassure Christians that every challenge in life is surmountable.
He said that although the nation was going through a period of economic hardship, the citizenry should persevere and support the government at all levels to play their roles.
”The situation around us mirrors what Christ went through 2,000 years ago—a period of trial, tribulation, economic pain, and anxieties.
”Let us be resilient and hopeful. Just as Christ overcame death, we shall also overcome this period.
”Use the Easter period to pray for the political leadership of this country at all levels,” he said.
Eno restated his administration’s resolve to always evolve programmes and policies that would have positive impacts on the people.
”My fellow Akwa Ibom people, let us remain hopeful; the future looks great, and our collective dreams for prosperity across all layers of society are possible.
”We are committed to applying our resources judiciously to affect you positively and give you reasons to remain hopeful,” he said.
The governor stated that he had released about N15 billion for the payment of gratuities to retirees in the state.
”This move has enabled our retirees to be able to take care of their needs, especially medicals. We will continue to release funds for this programme.
“Our resolve is to turn the current challenges into opportunities that will bring a better quality of life to our people,” he admonished.
