The first National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in more than a year is to hold next week Thursday.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has also scheduled a meeting of its Board of Trustees (BoT) for the same day while its national caucus will meet 24 hours earlier, all at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja.
The NEC meeting is coming after its former governorship aspirant in Ogun State in the 2023 general elections, Segun Sowunmi, dragged the NWC before the court to compel it to summons the committee meeting.

The PDP chieftain had observed that over a year and three months had passed since the last NEC meeting under the erstwhile national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.
The PDP Governors Forum had in its last meeting also told the NWC to set the machinery in motion for the party organs meeting.
“The Forum passed a vote of confidence in the Iliya Damagum led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party and urged it to put in motion the machinery for convening meetings of the appropriate organs of the party – from Caucus to National Executive Committee (NEC) as soon as possible,” its chairman and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, had said while reading the forum’s communique.
