As Christian faithful prepare to celebrate the Easter festivity, the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, Augustine Padonu, has said that 2,500 personnel have been deployed in a proactive measure to ensure the safety and security of the state residents.
The Commandant said that the deployment is aimed at safeguarding strategic locations, critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as the protection of vulnerable citizens.
In a statement by the NSCDC spokesman, DSC Sam Opebiyi, the Commandant stated further that the officers would take care of various key areas such as motor parks, churches, amusement centres, and critical infrastructure in order to prevent potential cases of insurgency, kidnapping, and attacks on vulnerable citizens.

“By reinforcing security measures, the NSCDC aims to ensure a smooth and secure celebration during the Easter period.
“To enhance surveillance and patrol activities, we have deployed the specialised Counter Terrorism Unit of the command to carry out rigorous surveillance operations across the state to ensure the safety of the public and swift response to any security threats that may arise,” the Commandant disclosed.
He added that the Disaster Management Unit of the Command, is well-trained and equipped to handle various disaster scenarios promptly, and had been deployed to address any emergencies that might occur during the Easter period.
Commandant Padonu urged the public to cooperate with the NSCDC personnel and promptly report any suspicious activities or security concerns to the nearest security agencies.
He assured the citizens of the NSCDC’s readiness to protect lives and property, emphasising that security remains a collective responsibility.
The Commandant expressed confidence in the ability of the deployed personnel to fulfill their duties diligently and efficiently.
He encouraged citizens to celebrate the Easter period with peace of mind, knowing that adequate security measures had been put in place.
