The Osun Masterminds, TOM, has appealed to the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to urgently look into the myriad of challenges confronting Nigeria.
Making the appeal during the March edition of the State of the State address on Thursday in Osogbo, TOM’s Executive Director, Prof Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli revealed that the Ilesa-Ibadan expressway, food inflation, power and electricity supply were some of the myriads of problems confronting ordinary Nigerians on a daily basis.
Dwelling on the Ilesa-Ibadan expressway, Oyedokun-Alli who appealed for an urgent rehabilitation of the road lamented that it has become a death trap.
While calling on President Tinubu to intensify efforts at stemming the tide of food inflation in the country, he urged him to find all means possible to stem the tide of inflation as the rising costs of food have put Nigerians under immeasurable pressure.
“We want to make the following appeals to the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on behalf of the people of Osun State and Nigerians:
“We appeal to the FG to give urgent attention to the complete rehabilitation of the Ibadan – Ilesa expressway as it has not become a death trap.
“We also appeal to the Federal Government to intensify efforts at stemming the tide of food inflation in the country. The FG must find all means possible to stem the tide of inflation as the rising costs of food have put Nigerians under immeasurable pressure.
“Knowing how the cost of fuel controls the cost of other commodities, we implore the FG to expedite actions on the Nation’s refineries as local production is our only solution to affordable fuel.”
The group also demanded the replacement of the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu for the inability of his Ministry to efficiently manage the power sector.
While insisting that the move would be a matter of urgent national importance, it lamented that the electricity situation in the country has worsened and had thus made life harder for the average Nigerian.
“We implore the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to, as a matter of urgent national importance, to rethink the assignment of Mr. Bayo Adelabu as the Minister of Power. The electricity situation has worsened across the country, making life harder for the average Nigerian.
“The Minister, having failed to efficiently manage the power sector, has shown himself incapable of giving the sector the needed leadership and should therefore be sacked or reassigned to a different Ministry that suits his capacity.”
