The Niger State House of Assembly Joint Committee on Agriculture, Land, and Environment has assured citizens of their commitment to continue to do the needful for the benefit of the state and to complement the efforts of the present administration on its Agricultural Revolution Agenda.
The chairman of the committee, Mohammed Alhaji Haruna, stated this during an oversight visit to inspect the farm machinery procured by the state government, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, where they are kept.
Haruna told the officials of the Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Niger Food Limited that the oversight visit was part of its constitutional mandate.
According to him: ” The Joint Committees are here to physically ascertain the level of the machinery presently on ground and assured them that the Joint Committee will be going round to ensure optimal usage of the equipment.”
Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Bawa Bosso, thanked the Joint Committee’s members for the visit while appealing to them to continue to follow the ministry’s activities and give advice where necessary.
Farm machinery on ground includes 208 tractors out of the 1000 expected, six harvester machines, and 200 power tiller machines, while 800 more are expected.
