Former lawmakers of the Imo State House of Assembly Forum, (FOMIHA) have elected new executive members that would run the affairs of the association for another period of three years
The body in a keen contest held last weekend in Owerri elected Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe from Nkwere State Constituency as Chairman of FOMIHA
Hon. Nzekwe polled 47 votes to defeat Hon. Innocent Onwuemenyi who got twenty votes for the chairmanship position while Hon. Ifeanyi Agwu defeated his opponent Hon. Innocent Eke with 50 votes for the Vice Chairmanship position
Hon.Gozie Nwachukwu of former Ngor Okpala constituency won the position of Secretary against Hon.Uche Oguwuike, former representative of Ikeduru state constituency
For the position of the Financial Secretary, Hon.Marcel Odunze was returned unopposed as Hon.Larry Ajaero was equally returned unopposed as the Public Relations Officer, PRO.
The office of the Provost went to Hon.Chris Okorogu, while Hon.Nkenna Nzeruo emerged as the Treasurer while Hon.Ngozi Ogbu clinched the position Organizing Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Hon Nzekwe expressed joy for being found worthy by his force-lawmakerskers, for choosing him as their leader, whassuringured that he will never betray the trust bestowed on him.
He pointed out that the major aim of forming the association was for the past lawmakers to be united to make political inputs towards moving the State forward.
The newly elected Chairman also stressed the need for members to foster harmonious relationships within themselves and show some of their members who may not cope with the current economic reality.
The former Nkwere Lawmaker further stated that the association through its wealth of legislative experience would guide the current lawmakers in the process of lawmaking.
He assured that the association will equally remain relevant in the State’s political space through its legislative reservoir as well as make worthy inputs in the development of Imo.
