The Adamawa State Government has reviewed the restriction of operations for tricycles, popularly called Keke NAPEP, in Yola North, Yola South and Girei.
The Keke NAPEP operators, who were formerly bound to close at 10pm every day in the affected LGAs, now have an extra hour to operate, according to the reviewed operational hours.
A statement passed to newsmen on Sunday afternoon by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, said by the fresh directive, the old 10pm to 5am directive “is now eased to commence from 11pm to 5am daily during the period of the Ramadan fast.”
Wonosikou explained that the development is to enable the Muslim faithful to partake in tafsir sessions during the fasting period.
Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that the Adamawa State Government had in February 2021 imposed a restriction of movement order on commercial tricyclists in the three municipal local council areas.
The restriction, introduced for security reasons, had been made through the Adamawa State Restriction of Movement of Tricycles/Motorcycles Executive Order No.1 of 2021.
The government however directed security agencies to beef up security especially in the three councils.
