Former media Aide to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, Bahir Ahmad says the Nigerian government must repay the killers of 16 military personnel in Okuoma community, Bomadi Local Government of Delta State.
Ahmad said this on Saturday on his X handle while reacting to the heinous crime perpetuated by the angry youths.
He said the government should reply to perpetrators using the language they will understand.
“Channels TV reported that some of the recovered soldiers’ corpses in the Okuoma community were said to have been beheaded while the stomachs and hearts of others were ripped off.
“Nigeria must repay it. Reply to the perpetrators with the language they will understand”, he wrote.
Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, in a statement, confirmed that men of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army on a peace mission to the Okuoma community were ambushed and killed by youths in the Okuoma community.
The Nigerian Army spokesperson explained that those killed were the commanding officer, two majors, one captain and 12 soldiers.
He added that the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, had ordered an immediate investigation and arrest of those involved in the heinous crime.
Meanwhile, the former Aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan told the military not to use unconstitutional or extrajudicial means to avenge the death of its officers in Delta State.
“The Nigerian Military must not use unconstitutional or extrajudicial means to avenge the death of the 14 officers killed in Delta State”, he wrote in his X account on Saturday.
