Arsenal legend Martin Keown has expressed concern over the club’s centre-backs ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich.
Keown feels England captain Harry Kane is looking forward to facing Arsenal in the upcoming Champions League quarter-final match against Bayern Munich in April.
Kane has had an impressive first season for the German giants, scoring 37 goals across all competitions and has a history of performing well against Arsenal defences during his time at Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal’s current centre-back partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes has been noted as one of Europe’s strongest, but they had several nervous moments in their recent clean sheet against FC Porto.
Despite the remarkable turnaround for Arsenal in terms of being back in the Champions League quarter-finals, Keown believes that they need to be respectful of Kane, who is currently in incredible form.
“It’s about Arsenal; can they beat Bayern?” Keown told the BBC when asked to give his view about the draw for the last 8.
“You look at Harry Kane and the number of goals. He’s scored a whole lot of goals against Arsenal and he might be licking his lips at this one. I think that sets up a fantastic opportunity.
“It’s just great now for Arsenal to be back talking about the Champions League quarterfinals. It’s a quite remarkable turnaround from an Arsenal point of view.
“Let’s be respectful. Harry Kane is in incredible form right now so the Arsenal central defenders [beware].”
