Wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Umaru Bago has called on women in the state to visit health facilities to protect their children and wards from deadly diseases.
Mrs Bago made the call at an event by the Niger State Ministry of Primary Health Care at the Emir Palace in Minna.
She explained that the call became necessary, especially with the onset of the extremely hot season, which could expose children to various deadly diseases.
Fatima Bago stated, “I call on mothers and caregivers to take their wards for immunization because the vaccines are free, safe and available to protect our children against deadly diseases.”
“I am also delighted to distribute the “Mamma Kits” as a personal initiative of my office to support pregnant women who come to deliver in our health facilities”
“ I am hopeful that this intervention will have a direct impact in attracting pregnant women to deliver in the clinics and hence reduce maternal mortality.”
Mrs Fatima Bago said the government has introduced Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Foods to be used for the treatment of severe malnutrition in children in view of the crucial role Nutrition plays in the life of a child.
Earlier, the state commissioner for Primary Health Care, Dr Ibrahim Ahmed Dangana, in his remarks expressed the determination of his ministry to strengthen policies and formulations by partnering with relevant MDAs to ensure that all its goals and missions are achieved in providing quality healthcare for the people.
Dangana added that to strengthen service delivery, monitoring and supervision, and distribution of essential commodities, motorcycles would be deployed to health workers for emergency services to hard-to-reach areas of the state
