RB Leipzig’s forward, Dani Olmo, has expressed his confidence that his team can beat Real Madrid in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie on Wednesday.
Olmo, who was born in Spain, returns to his home country after Leipzig lost the first leg in Germany three weeks ago by a one-goal margin.
Real Madrid has an unbeaten record in this season’s competition, having won all their group stage games without dropping a point before winning the first leg against Leipzig.
However, the Spanish La Liga side is coming off a draw in La Liga, while Leipzig won their last match convincingly against VfL Bochum.
Olmo believes that his team can knock out the record 14-time champions and advance to the quarterfinals.
“We are going to the Bernabeu with the mentality that we can eliminate Real Madrid,” he said in an interview with Madrid Xtra ahead of the Wednesday match.
The winner will advance to the quarterfinals.
