Four thousand, four hundred and twelve new lawyers were on Monday called to the Nigerian Bar.
The new legal practitioners were inaugurated at the Body of Benchers Headquarters in Abuja by the Chairman, of the body, Justice Mary Ukaego Peter Odili, a retired Supreme Court Justice.
Speaking at the occasion, Odili revealed that the Nigerian judiciary now has a committee that will address the problem of conflicting judgments being churned out by some judges at the state level.
She said that the committee was put in place amidst heightened criticism and dwindling public trust in the country’s courts.
Odili explained that the committee, comprising high ranking members of the Nigerian judiciary, is working hard to address incidents of conflicting judgments as the courts work hard to regain public trust.
She advised the new lawyers to avoid the temptation of being caught up in media trial.
