The Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu has turbaned ten traditional rulers in the Emirate council, including a former governor of the state, Adamu Mu’azu and a visiting governor, Umar Bago of Niger State, who bagged the traditional title of Shaban.
Others turbaned are a former senator representing Bauchi Central, Sen. Haliru Jika, who was turbaned as Dokajin Bauchi, a former Chief of Staff to Bauchi governor, Dr Ladan Salihu as Barden Yaman Bauchi, Aminu Aliyu Garu as Sarkin Alhazan Bauchi, Dr Said Aliyu as Wakili Maganin.
The rest are; Musa Jibrin Abdullahi as Dikkon Bauchi, Y. Y. Abdullahi, Sarkin Shanun Bauchi, Hussaini Umaru as Majikiran Bauchi, Sirajo Bello Ilellah as Dokan Bauchi, and Mijinyawa Mahmood, Chincinan Bauchi.
Speaking at the turbaning ceremony over the weekend, Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding traditional values throughout the state.
He said, “Preserving our traditional values is a top priority in my administration and we are fortunate to have unwavering support from our esteemed traditional and religious leaders. Their backing has been crucial to our achievements.”
Governor Mohammed also stressed the significance of promoting cultural heritage to boost tourism.
“I extend my congratulations to the new title holders and urge them to represent our Emirate and state with dignity. They can count on my full support in their endeavours,” he concluded.
The Governor used the ceremony to charge traditional rulers and title holders to always live up to the expectations of their titles and offices as the case may be.
Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, who bagged the traditional title of Shaban Bauchi, charged the traditional title holders to live up to expectations for sustainable growth and development.
He appreciated the Emir for the honour and stressed that the good working relationship between Bauchi and Niger States would continue for the good of all.
Former Bauchi state Governor, Dr Adamu Mu’azu, Walin Bauchi, who responded on behalf of the ten turbaned traditional title holders, appreciated the Emir for the honour, pledging their unalloyed loyalty and support.
Speaking earlier, the Emir charged the traditional rulers as true sons of the soil to continue to contribute towards the growth and development of the state and the country in general.
He said they were carefully chosen in recognition of their contributions and urged them to sustain the tempo.
