The Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, on Saturday mourned the passing of popular Nollywood comedian and actor, Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji popularly known as Sisi Quadri, whose death was announced on Friday.
The minister expressed shock following the sudden demise of the Yoruba actor who passed after a brief illness, according to a statement released by her Office in Abuja.
“I learnt a movie, titled ‘Anukulapo: The Return of Spectre,’ in which Sisi Quadri played a spectacular role was released on Netflix on Friday and is already making waves. His death at this time when he should be reaping the fruits of his labour is untimely and saddening.
“I sympathise with his immediate family members on this unfortunate incident and pray for the repose of his soul”, Musawa said.
PUNCH Online earlier reported that the Iwo, Osun State-born actor died on Friday at the age of 44. The cause of death has yet to be ascertained.
Announcing his death, Nollywood actress, Abiola Bayo wrote on her verified Instagram handle, “You will be greatly missed, Sisi Quadri. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”
He is well known for his role in the movie “Seniyan Seranko,” which was released on December 4, 2004.
The late actor was also set to captivate audiences in the upcoming film “Anikulapo: The Return of Spectre,” which is scheduled for release in cinemas across the country shortly but has just been released on Netflix.
