Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Friday, arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
Recently, the EFCC had announced the arrest of four brothers and 30 other suspects, for alleged involvement in internet fraud.
The anti-graft agency said the suspects were arrested on February 9, 2024, “in an intelligence-driven sting operation at various locations within Enugu State”.
According to the Friday statement, the latest suspects were arrested in the Gwagwalada axis of the Federal Capital Territory, following credible intelligence of the involvement of the suspects in internet fraud.
Among the items recovered from them were four cars, 22 phones and laptops.
The statement read, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 1, 2024, arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters.
“They were arrested in the Gwagwalada axis of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja in a sting operation, following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet fraud.
“Items recovered from them are four cars, 22 phones and two laptops. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded”.
