Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, have neutralized scores of terrorists and rescued eight kidnap victims in Zamfara State.
Arogidigba Global Journal gathered that most of the terrorists’ camps were destroyed during the operation in the Bayan Ruwa area of the state.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday in Gusau, the spokesman of the Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, the troops recorded successes against the ravaging bandits in the state.
“These were achieved in continuation with the dry season clearance operations in the state”, the statement said.
“In the recent success, the troops rescued eight kidnapped victims in an ambush operation conducted in the state.
“On the 28th February 2024, the OPHD troops during its continuous clearance operation at the terrorists’ enclaves at Bayan Ruwa axis which is presumed to be a crossing point of the terrorist in the state.”
The OPHD’S spokesman further stated that during the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a heavy gun duel during which the hoodlums fled in disarray and abandoned their captors.
“Hence the troops’ timely and prompt response led to the rescue of eight kidnapped victims unhurt.”
He added that the troops destroyed the terrorists’ enclaves and dominated the area with aggressive and confidence-building patrol.
“All the rescued victims were handed over to the appropriate authorities to reunite them with their respective families,” the statement said.
The Commander, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, General Officer Commanding, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, commended the efforts of the troops for their continued doggedness and resilience in an effort to restore normalcy in the North West.
He called on the people to continue giving support to the troops by providing timely information on terrorists’ hideouts for prompt action.
