Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command attached to the Utako Divisional Headquarters have arrested one Attah Godwin an indigene of Kogi State, in connection to a robbery attack on one Ogo Chukwemeka, im Kuchingoro area of Abuja.
A statement by Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the suspect was arrested on Sunday
The suspect, according to the statement, stabbed the victim, Chukwuemeka, on his chest and shoulders, and stole his phones and other belongings.
However operatives on patrol, after receiving the information, chased the suspect and arrested him, while the victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The statement partly read, “The Operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to Utako Divisional Headquarters on February 25, 2024, at about 06:05am, while on routine patrol, arrested one Attah Godwin ‘m’ 33 of Kogi State in connection to a robbery attack on one Ogo Chukwuemeka ‘m’ 27 of Kuchigoro, Abuja.
“The suspect attacked the victim while he was trying to board a vehicle to Kuchigoro at Berger Mosque, Utako, stabbed him on his chest and shoulder with a knife and dispossessed him of his phones and other belongings.
“The police operatives on patrol, having received the information with the support of the locals, gave the suspects a hot chase and caught up with him. The exhibits were recovered from him and the victim was taken to the hospital to receive medical attention”.
The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Benneth Igwe, reiterated his commitment “to ensure residents of FCT enjoys a safe and enjoyable environment”, while urging residents to report any suspicious activities to the Police’s emergency numbers.
Last week, the command said 170 out of the 307 suspects it arrested, following a coordinated raid operation by tactical teams of the Command, led by the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh on February 11 at Gidan-Dambe, Dei-dei – Zuba, Abuja, have been profiled and arraigned at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board Mobile Court in Area 3, Garki District.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that after a screening of the arrested 307 suspects, 170 of them were found wanting.
