Alphonsus Eba has insisted that he remains the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State.
Eba refuted the claims by a group that he had been suspended, saying he remains the party chairman in the state.
The group which claimed they are stakeholders of the party, in a letter signed by Chief Mark Nomba Ayo as Chairman and Chief Mathias Ake, Secretary, suspended the Eba indefinitely and named one Mr James Alicha as the acting state chairman.
But in a telephone interview with Arogidigba Global Journal, Eba said “I am sitting in my office as we speak. I am the chairman of APC in Cross River State..”
He maintained that if he was suspended, he would not have access to the state party Secretariat in Calabar.
In the letter sent to the National Chairman of APC and copied to the state governor, DSS, Commissioner of Police, and Resident Electoral Commissioner, the group listed a number of offences allegedly committed by Eba, disclosing that he has breached the Constitution of the Party.
According to the group, since he assumed office, Eba has conducted himself as a sole administrator and has been high-handed and antagonistic.
“We, the undersigned bonafide members and on behalf of Cross River State APC Stakeholders and acting for the overall interest, success and wellbeing of our great party and a majority of our membership across the state have decided, agreed and undertaken to suspend Alphonsus Eba as State Chairman of our party.
