The family of Brazil forward, Neymar, paid €150,000 in damages to the victim of Dani Alves’ sexual assault, according to UOL.
Alves was found guilty on Thursday of raping a lady in the bathroom of a Barcelona nightclub.
A Spanish court sentenced the 40-year-old to four-and-a-half years in prison.
It is understood that the €150,000 payment was made before the verdict and would have been handed to the victim regardless of the outcome of the trial.
However, the court took the €150,000 into account when determining the length of Alves’ jail term.
Neymar and Alves played together for Barcelona and Brazil and are close friends off the pitch.
It is also believed Neymar’s family allowed their lawyer, Gustavo Xisto, to represent Alves.
