The emergence of a new city is underway with the proposed development of 27,000 acres of land as Valor City in Ogbomosoland, Oyo State.
Conducting newsmen around the site, the Chief Executive Officer of Valor City, Mr Debo Thomas Olusola, said that he conceived the idea of the project twenty years ago.
According to him, the aim is to end rural and urban migration and create employment opportunities for no fewer than 10,000 youths across the 33 local government areas of the state.
Olusola, who described entrepreneurship as a panacea to the economic crisis in the country, stressed the need for the private sector to take the driver’s seat.
He, thereby, expressed his readiness to partner with the state government and the relevant stakeholders to facilitate the speedy implementation of the project.
According to him, the project in Valor City shares the infrastructural development of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration.
Most of the urban cities in the southwest are densely populated, while the rural areas are left undeveloped. This prompted the idea of Valor City.
The infrastructural and socio-economic development of the country should not be shoulder by the three tiers of government alone; it is supposed to be a collective effort.
“This is one of the major drives behind the Valor City concept. When completed, it will open up the state and boost internally generated revenue.
Some of the features of the proposed Valor city include water parks, an education and vocational centre, resorts, shopping malls, a medical district, and a tech volley.
Other features are a golf course, green and conservation areas, sports academies, renewable energy, a ranch farm, and a city library.
On the power generation and accessibility of the place, he said the company would explore other sources of energy, including wind and solar energy.
Also, the area has been connected to the national grid, which, according to him, would be an added advantage.
On accessibility and the road network, he disclosed that the area shares boundaries with the Ilorin International Airport and other notable and historical cities in Oyo State.
