A Nigerian cleric in the diaspora has berated the Yorubas for staging protests over hunger and economic hardship.
In a video making the rounds on social media, the clergyman who spoke in Yoruba asked his kinsmen if they had been cursed for speaking against the Tinubu administration.
In his words;
‘’Hope it is not that you have been cursed? You Yorubas! What has Tinubu done that you guys are shouting he is causing you guys to go hungry? You did not cry for eight years when a soldier ruled. When under him they stole a lot of money. Is it not under him that Emefiele stole billions? Is it not under him Accountant General stole Billions of Dollars? We are not talking about Naira, we are talking of Dollars. Is it not under him Malami served? You know the billions they took? And nobody shouted. You Yorubas, you did not come out at the time to shout that you were hungry,
Someone assumes office in eight months and you are all shouting you are hungry? Are you cursed? If you make the mistake of allowing Tinubu to lose this position, your generation will not forgive you.
You are shouting ‘You are hungry’, is it today that you have been hungry?
Yorubas have not been in the presidency since through constitutional election. This is the only one. I don’t have anything to do with Tinubu. I have never met him in life. You will not allow him to work. You are shouting in the seven months.”
He further claimed that some people are not happy that a Nigerian from the South West is currently in power, so the Yorubas should not join forces with them to discredit the Tinubu regime.
According to him, the fuel subsidy removal was a trap for Tinubu to fail but he won’t.
‘’All you Yorubas, you better talk to yourselves before you suffer terribly from those that have stolen billions. Is Yoruba amongst those that have stolen billions? Mention a Yoruba that has stolen billions? You are shouting ‘We are hungry’ in Ibadan, Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti. You better not allow Hungry kill you guys if you make the mistake that this thing(presidency) slips from the Yorubas”
