President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate seeking confirmation of Hafsat Abubakar Bakari as Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU.
The letter was read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday.
The appointment, Tinubu said, was in line with the Act of Parliament that set up the NFIU, adding that Hafsat will replace the immediate CEO of NFIU, Modibbo Maman Tukur, whose tenure expired on 27th January, 2024.
The letter was immediately referred to the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Intelligence chaired by Senator Udende Memga Emmanuel for screening.
The committee was asked to turn in its report to the Committee of the Whole in two weeks time
