A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Adeyeri Stephen, faulted the positions of the five members of the House Representatives who accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in an open letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday.
Adeyeri, who described the open letter as inconsequential and unnecessary, noted that the lawmakers’ claims were outrightly fabricated to discredit Aiyedatiwa and to cause crisis within the APC ahead of the next election in the state
In a statement issued, signed, and made available to newsmen, the party chieftain urged President Tinubu to discard the letter, describing the writers as anti-democratic elements.
The statement reads, “The recent letter purportedly authored by five House of Representatives members from Ondo State must be viewed with scepticism and ultimately deemed inconsequential.
“Upon careful scrutiny, it becomes evident that the contents of the letter are not only misleading but also laden with deliberate falsehoods.
“The primary objective of the letter, addressed to President Tinubu, appears to be a calculated attempt to tarnish the exemplary leadership of Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
“It is regrettable that these representatives, entrusted with the responsibility of advocating for the welfare of their constituents, have instead chosen to engage in a campaign of misinformation and political sabotage.
“The letter’s content lacks substantive evidence and is clearly motivated by personal agendas rather than genuine concern for the welfare of the people of Ondo State.
“Also, it is imperative that President Tinubu disregard the letter in its entirety. The authors behind this missive have demonstrated a blatant disregard for democratic principles and ethical conduct.
“Their actions are indicative of anti-democratic elements within the political landscape, whose sole aim is to sow discord and undermine the democratic process.
“In light of these observations, it is crucial that the President and other stakeholders remain vigilant against such divisive tactics. It is incumbent upon me to uphold the integrity of our democratic institutions and resist the machinations of those who seek to manipulate them for personal gain.
“In conclusion, the letter penned by these five House of Representatives members must be dismissed as a baseless and politically motivated stunt. President Tinubu should exercise discernment and ignore the contents of they’re letter, recognising it for what it truly is—a desperate ploy by anti-democratic elements to destabilise the peace and progress of Ondo State.”
