A Chieftain of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) in Jigawa state, Malam Garba Ibrahim Malamawa, has berated the state Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, for alleged lack of concern and care to people of the state on the present economic hardship and hunger being experienced.
The NNPP chieftain made the accusation while speaking to Tribune Online in an exclusive interview in Dutse, the state capital, described the governor’s action as using huge amount of money to travel abroad for lesser Hajj as abandoning the state in the midst of current high foreign exchange crisis and serious economical condition and hunger.
Malam Malamawa, a Dutse local government youth leader, alleged that “the this lackadaisical attitude by the governor on the people of the state and common man in particular is a clear indication that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state has no concern, regard or sympathy to the people who entrusted them.”
According to him, “for the governor to abandon his people at this difficult situation of hunger, insecurity and other social lives is a testimony that the people in the state made a serious and in reversible mistake for voting APC despite all our warning to vote the best and most qualified political party and its candidates, that is NNPP and Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim”.
He further faulted APC and Governor Malam Umar Namadi for not taking any adequate and necessary measures to reduce the present hardship despite the huge amount of money accrued from the federal government allocation and local revenue collection amounting to billions of Naira every month.
“It is very, very unfortunate that with the present situation in the state when other states especially neighboring Kano state has devoted its time and energies in searching, planning and executing policies and projects to curtail the situation. But here in Jigawa state, the governor ignored the over six million people and embarked on foreign trip. It is really unfortunate.”
Malamawa also stated that “Another one of the most unfortunate things is how the government in this state ignored the civil servants’ demand through the NLC of palliative and wage award. When the ruling NNPP government in Kano awarded a significant amount of money to workers and pensioners in addition to other palliatives, the civil servants in Jigawa were abandoned and left with nothing.”
The NNPP chieftain frowned on the members of the state Assembly for an alleged poor representation, lack of concern to the people they are representing and allegedly allowing things to go wrong by executives.
He further faulted the lawmakers for not doing their primary assignment in the chamber, “they are all robbers’ stamps. They are not committed to their duties. They are only happy to be called honourable”.
Malam Garba Ibrahim Malamawa called on the people in the state to take good lessons from what is happening now to ensure they vote for NNPP and Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim in the next election for better positive change.
He said, “Malam Aminu is a credible, gentle and experienced politician that has been tested and trusted. I’m assuring the people that NNPP and Aminu Ringim are capable to move the state out of the APC mess with little time”.
