The traditional ruler-elect of Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, High Chief Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, has urged investors to seize business opportunities presented by the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
Onuokaibe made this call on Friday during the first edition of Enugu Youths Investment Summit organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Enugu State chapter, led by Comrade Chukwuebuka Bartholomew Okoh, with the theme “Tomorrow is here, the Place of Enugu Youths.”
Onuokaibe, who chaired the event, stated that some notable private sector individuals were currently working on investing heavily in the youths through talent harnessing, as well as employment.
He called on Enugu youths to inculcate the spirit of self discipline in all they did and jettison profligacy.
“Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has made Enugu State safe for investment, and we must capitalise on it to make Enugu blessed with youths that have different talents.
“I and some notable business veterans from Enugu State are currently working with NYCN led by Comrade Chukwuebuka Bartholomew Okoh to gather some youths with great business ideas. We are going to evaluate their proposals.
“All the interested young persons need to do is to get their ideas put on paper and sent to NYCN for documentation, which after, they would be sent for training.
“Enugu is our own, and it is our duty to help the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in making our youths more productive and useful,” he said.
In his remarks, the commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon Lloyd Ekweremmadu said the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah was open for partnership with the youths on training and investments.
He stated that the state Government was about getting a N4.4bn investment from a group of people to aid youth empowerment and industrialization.
A guest speaker, Chukwu Ephraim Okenwa, enjoined the youths to tap on the innovative ideas presented by Governor Mbah’s administration to make life better as the government was determined to change the narratives through disruptive innovations.
According to him, “Human capital development is the first that makes any government policies work.
“You cannot talk about visions and development without talking about the ease of doing business which is what Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is trying to do, so as to make those in Enugu especially, the youths to be empowered intellectually so as to empower others.
“Transforming Enugu is achievable and realistic owing to how Singapore, India, China, and other countries got transformed.”
