The Federal Executive Council, chaired by President Bola Tinubu, has restored funding for 13 national health regulators.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the regulatory agencies were initially defunded in the 2024 budget.
Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria and Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria are among the affected agencies.
Others are the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria, Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Health Records Registration Board of Nigeria, Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, and Medical Rehab Therapists Registration Board.
Also captured in the new development are Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria, Optometry and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria, and Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria, according to a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s senior assistant on Information and Strategy.
