Barely three months after his appointment as a special adviser to the governor of Sokoto State, Buhari Bello Sahhabi has resigned his appointment.
Buhari, popularly known as Buhari na Mallam, resigned his appointment in a letter of resignation personally signed by him dated February 7, 2024, addressed to the Secretary of State Government.
In the letter, which has now gone viral on social media, he cited some recent developments in the state that may subject him and his supporters to another round of humiliation.
“It is with gratitude to Allah Subhanalahu that I, Buhari Bello Sahhabi, on this day, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, after due consultation with my family, friends, political associates, and well wishes, tender my resignation as a Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
“This decision becomes necessary in view of recent developments, which are, by every measure, an attempt to subject me and my supporters to another round of humiliation and to relegate us to the background.
“Thus, I took the hard decision to quit my appointment as a Special Adviser to preserve my honour,” he added
Meanwhile, efforts to get the reactions of the spokesman to the governor, Abubakar Bawa, were not successful as his phone was not reachable at the time of filling out this report.
