The Ifo Community Consultative Forum, a community group in Ogun State has condemned the “unwholesome” removal of Honourable Kunle Oluomo as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
According to a statement by its secretary, Alhaji Waheed Adekunle, the forum noted that the charges brought against Oluomo, who represents the people of Ifo community, were hollow and unsubstantiated.
Recall that Oluomo was impeached in late January when 22 members of the 26-man assembly voted for his removal over allegations bothering on embezzlement of funds, high handedness and other related offences.
The forum, however, urged political leaders in the state to intervene in the political crisis that has rocked the state following Oluomo’s removal.
“To change a leader with intimidating credentials deserves a decorous approach and cannot be hinged on trumped up charges. To this end we suspect a foul play.
“However, we take solace in the fact that Ogun State is not in short supply of leaders who hold sway in political matters. Their prompt intervention is desired to resolve this imbroglio.
“To us, Kunle Oluomo is our illustrious son in whom we are well pleased. Our confidence in him is immutable,” the statement read in part.
