The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Mr Benneth Igweh, has urged Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to adopt effective community partnership in policing the FCT.
In a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, on Sunday in Abuja, the commissioner spoke during a meeting with the management team, leaders of all tactical units and heads of departments of the police command in the FCT, including Area Commanders and DPOs.
Igweh said the meeting was aimed at revamping the approach of the already existing security framework and to set in motion, the plan to ensure safety of FCT residents.
He called on the senior police officers to embrace intelligence-led and visibility policing through constant stop and search operation to win the fight against criminality.
He cautioned that he would not tolerate laxity and urged the heads of tactical units to identify black spots, possible kidnappers’ den and take the fight to them.
The commissioner ordered total clampdown of vehicles without number plates or with a single number plate plying the FCT roads.
He pledged the readiness of the command to combat criminality in the FCT and called on residents to collaborate with the police in the fight against crime.
Igweh urged residents to avoid boarding vehicles along the road and unapproved parks.
