In line with the on-going strategic repositioning of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for professionalism and more effective service delivery, the Lagos State Government has begun an intensive in-house training programme for 309 junior officers across zones.
General Manager, LASTMA, Bakare-Oki Olalekan, disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the ‘Re-Training Programme’ that the exercise was in line with “traffic management and transportation” as one of the cardinal programmes of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as captured in the administration’s ‘Themes+’ pillars.
Bakare-Oki disclosed that the re-training exercise was primarily meant to create a new image for the agency that would guarantee a refined and robust traffic management system (TMS) in the state as well as reduce traffic congestion across the State.
He confirmed that the exercise which would run for four days began on Monday with the re-training of the first batch of 81 junior officers (males and females), which ended yesterday.
“We map out new re-training modules to aid effective execution of duties as well as enlighten our officers on new innovative ways to optimize their operations to meet up with International standard and best practices in traffic management,” he said.
Bakare-Oki reiterated that motoring public, particularly motorists with comments, complaints or commendations could reach out to LASTMA.
LASTMA’s Director of Human Capacity, Development and Specialised Training, Akinpelu Ayuba, thanked the government for approving the re-training programme for the agency.
He maintained that the exercise would promote professionalism and quality road management service delivery across the State.
