Angola coach, Pedro Soares Gonçalves has given his verdict on Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of both teams’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, quarter-final tie on Friday.
Gonçalves said Nigeria is a colossus of African football, adding that many of her football players play in the Premier League.
Among the 25 players, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has taken to Ivory Coast, eleven have Premier League experience.
They include the likes of Semi Ajayi, Ahmed Musa, Joe Aribo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ola Aina, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Paul Onuachu, William Troost-Ekong and Ademola Lookman.
“Nigeria is a colossus of African football, although it had some difficulties before the African championship,” Gonçalves said as quoted by Sapo Desporto.
“But, what is certain is that Nigeria is an African colossus full of talented players, many of them playing in the Premier League or reference leagues in Europe, such as the Italian League and the Portuguese League, including.”
