A woman has been hospitalized after allegedly being assaulted by her ex-husband in Bako Estate, Owode Onirin, Lagos State.
The woman, identified as Mary Olohunwa, was accosted on her way to her shop last Thursday, Jan. 25, by her ex-husband Keji Ademola, who allegedly beat her and hit her with a heavy stone.
A relation of Mary told SaharaReporters on Monday, Jan. 29, that Ademola claimed he saw strange marks on their children’s heads. When he asked, Mary explained to him that she put the marks to fend off spiritual attacks and protect the children.
Ademola then allegedly hit Mary and she started bleeding and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“My sister is still in hospital. The stone wounded her a lot and we have been asked to pay a medical bill of around N160,000 for her treatment,” Mary’s sister told the publication.
Ademola was apprehended by residents of the area after he attempted to flee. He has been handed over to the police and has been in custody since then.
Mary’s sister added that “the police told us he would be arraigned in court today (Jan. 29) and we are for that”.
She continued: “This would be the third time this man wanted to kill my sister. It was because of his violent nature that they separated three years ago.
“We took him to Ketu Police Station before this recent incident, but he was released eventually without any punishment. This time, I hope the police do not compromise on their job.”
