Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has extended his hands of fellowship to the first executive governor of the State, Senator Sani Ahmed Yarima and other former governors.
The past governors include Alhaji Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari and the Minister of State for Defense, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
Governor Lawal also invited them to the official inauguration of the local security outfit, Community Protection Guards, CPG, to restore peace and stability in the State.
This was contained in a statement issued to newamen in Gusau, the State capital by the chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Hon. Mukhtar Lugga, who doubles as the Chief of Staff to the Governor.
According to the statement, the occasion is expected to be graced by governors from the Northwest and other prominent individuals from the northern part of the country.
“Governor Lawal has been calling on the former governors of the state to abandon their differences to work together for the progress of the state.
“He promised to be fair, open and transparent in his personal and official interaction in conformity with his oath of office,” he stated.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the state has been a colony of banditry for more than one decade, leading to massive destruction of lives, kidnappings and destruction of property.
The CPG was initiated by Governor Dauda Lawal as soon as he assumed office, aimed at addressing the incessant security challenges in the State.
Recall that some months ago, the State Government recruited 4,200 Community Protection Guards, CPG, from the 14 Local Government Areas to fight the ravaging bandits.
