Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong is full of confidence ahead of the team’s Round of 16 fixture against Cameroon at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria will tackle their eternal rivals, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday.
The Super Eagles have won the last two meetings between both teams at the AFCON.
The West Africans defeated Cameroon 2-0 in the quarterfinals at the 2004 edition, hosted by Egypt. They also beat the Indomitable Lions 3-2 in a thrilling Round of 16 contest at the 2019 edition, also hosted by Egypt.
“Cameroon is a familiar AFCON opponent for us. We have played against them seven times before in the AFCON,” the Kasimpasa defender told NFF TV.
“We are focused on our preparation. We believe in the coach to provide us with the right tactics to beat them.
“We are confident; after the last game, we resolved that we are ready to face any opponent. We just have to stick to our game plan and work hard on the pitch.”
