KANO State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Usaini Gumel has waded in over political clashes that erupted between supporters of All Progressive Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) shortly after the declaration of Supreme Court judgment on the governorship election
This was just as the police confirmed the arrest of six persons from both of the two political parties, saying interrogation was still ongoing.
It will recalled that the violence between the two warring factions, of APC and NNPP in Kademi town of Gaya Local Government erupted and resulted in the serious injuries of so many party supporters who are still recuperating at the Hospital.
However, the Police Commissioner said Habibu was playing his political songs while Alkasim who was not pleased with the music attacked and scattered the musical Instrument, leading to bloodshed between the warring political parties.
However, while paying homage to the Emir of Gaya, Dr Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya, the CP said that they decided to adopt the new measures of intervening in a crisis situation before arrest to create corrective measures before usual arrest and prosecution.
Gumel who Commended the State’s Five Emirs who are in prayers for peace in the State, warned that Police would not tolerate such kind of Political Clashes again.
“A situation where there was clash politically between some people’s celebrating victory of the State NNPP government and the APC opposition leading to bloodshed is uncalled for.”
